textile workers’ movement broke out in several areas ofMarathwada and
Hyderabad. This was in 1946, and it continued for several months. Industrial
committees were the result of these agitations. I had to work hard to organize
municipal workers and to get them registered. Many of them got beaten up during
the agitations. My being an advocate was a big advantage, as I could look after
both the organisational and legal work. Unions of the municipal workers were
formed in several towns. Later on I was alerted to the legilative bodies as
municipal councillor and MLA.
worked with several committees. Some of them dealt with the problem of
rationalisation. I have acted in the capacity of the tresurer of several uions
and workers organisations. I was very active in the movement against
rationalisation. I was part ofpowerloom socities.
We did intense struggle against the phoney management unions of the lackeys of the Nizam. These unions were popularly knownas “ Yellow Flag”Unions. I have initiated the housing socities of the homeless. Now due to advanced age I am not able to work much. But I continue to function as treasurer of some unions and able as legal advisor in some of them.
