Collection
The
Labour History Sources of Tamil Nadu comprises documents
and inventories of labour history collected under a
Project done in collaboration with the Workers Education
Trust, Chennai of Tamil Nadu .during 2001. The main aim of
the project was to collect important documents of major
trade unions in Tamil Nadu in several regional and
industrial centres. Apart from these a comprehensive
inventory and profiling of factory level unions in the
main centres such as Chennai and Coimbatore was undertaken
in this project. The collection in its first phase
contains documents, theses and dissertation on labour
history and other items such as copies of rare books on
old industrial houses. A large number of documents are in
Tamil language and are of great interest for any regional
level history of labour.
