Collection
This
collection is created vide a unique project contemplated
and carried out by the Integrated Labour History Research
Programme of the V. V. Giri National Labour Institute.In
this project, a group of six graduate students in History
from Delhi University (Mr. Alberuni, Mr. Vinod Kumar, Mr.
Bonojit Hussain, Mr. Gagan Kumar, Mr. Madhuresh Kumar and
Mr. Y. Jilangamba S.) have designed and conducted a
detailed oral history documentation of the impact of
industrial closure on the dependent labour lives in Delhi
Region, a situation emerged consequent to the Supreme
Court verdict on evacuating the non-confirming industries
from the residential areas to remote suburbs of the city.
All the activities of the project, which include,
preparation of detailed proposal, conduct of oral history
document and the report writing were carried out by the
students themselves, with the close supervision of Shri
Mukul Maglik, Dr. Prabhu P. Mohapatra and Shri Babu P.
Remesh. The present collection includes the final report,
brief biography profiles and personal information of the
interviewees. Apart from this , a comprehensive set of
newspaper clippings on this subject is also included. The
audio files and the transcripts of the interviewees would
be added soon to this collection.
